By accessing or using The Novelist ("Service"), operated by The Novelist ("we," "our," or "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

The Novelist is an AI-powered writing platform that helps users write novels through an 8-phase guided process. The Service includes AI writing assistance, project management tools, and a publishing platform.

3. User Accounts

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
  • One person may not maintain more than one account.

4. Intellectual Property & Content Ownership

Your content is yours. You retain full ownership and intellectual property rights to all novels, characters, outlines, and other creative content you create using the Service. We claim no ownership over your work.

By publishing content through our Discover platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, revocable license to display and distribute that content within the Service. You may remove published content at any time.

The Novelist's brand, design, code, and AI prompts are our intellectual property and may not be copied or reproduced without permission.

5. AI-Generated Content

The AI writing assistant provides suggestions and content to help your creative process. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and taking ownership of any AI-assisted content in your work. AI suggestions are tools — the final creative decisions are yours.

We do not guarantee the accuracy, originality, or quality of AI-generated suggestions. You should review all AI output before incorporating it into your work.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to generate illegal, harmful, or abusive content
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, or disrupt the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or access the Service beyond normal use
  • Impersonate other users or misrepresent your identity
  • Publish content that infringes on others' intellectual property rights
  • Use the Service to spam, harass, or harm other users

7. Subscription Plans & Payments

  • Free Plan: Limited features as described on our pricing page.
  • Starter Plan: One-time purchase unlocking additional features.
  • Pro Plan: Monthly subscription with full access to all features.
  • Payments are processed securely through Stripe.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us within 14 days of purchase.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

9. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the Service. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
